I wanted my final design to have a consistent colour palette in order to be visually appealing. However, after blocking my walk cycle out this way, I decided that it looked quite awkward and I ultimately made the decision to have the girl be looking forwards as it appeared more natural in this case.Īs well as changing the pose, I also simplified the overall character design to make it easier to animate as my original drawings were quite complex. I had previously designed a puppy character for a personal project, which I decided would be a good fit to include in this animation.Īt the beginning, I wanted the girl to be looking to the side as she walked. ![]() I was inspired by a Jana Brike painting in her series Sea of Change to have my character be carrying an animal as they walk. This blog post will discuss my process of working on the Walk Cycle.įrom the beginning, I knew I wanted to add an additional element to make my walk cycle more interesting.
